There's no better way to celebrate our 5 year anniversary than to launch a brand and have a $5000 purse.
The World Slam Poetry League is an event series that will takae place across the country quarterly. Each event will feature 60 poet and a $5000. The top 3 from each event will be invited back to Fayetteville, NC for $20,000 slam.
This inaugural event will take place Labor Day weekend in cooperation with the Marquis Slam 5 year anniversary.
The format will be as follows:
60 poets
4 prelims on September 2, 2016 (2 7pm bouts and 2 9pm bouts)
Each bout will be 2 rounds, with a cumalative scoring system.
Bout draw will be decided by the randomizer computer program.
1 round all 15 poets will perform
2 round the top 10 poets will perform
The top 3 from each bout will return Saturday (Sept. 3) for Final Stage.

3rd round 4 poets
Rules are as follows:
PREMLIMS
-Poets will perform original work in 3min with a 10 sec grace period. After, the grace period a .5 time penalty will be assest for every 10 sec over 3.10.
-Your time starts when you address the crowd
-No props or music accompianment will be allowed
-Poems can not be repeated until the Finals
FINALS

PRIZES
Prize Money will be disbursed in a Visa Gift Card
1st place $3500
2nd place $1000
3rd place $500
Prize money is guranteed with the registration of at least 50 poets. Prize is subject to change (increase) without notice, and decrease with advance notice.
Winner will also recieve a paid feature at the Marquis Slam
